The Engine Driven Compressor (EDC) is produced by Concepts NREC for a customer for a specific aircraft installation. Concepts NREC has the proven design, development, and manufacturing capability to provide an EDC for any aircraft application. We have been in that business for over ten years. Typical characteristics of an aircraft unit are shown.
The EDC can provide breathable compressed air for aircraft cabin cooling, heating, and pressurization over a wide range of flight conditions. It can also provide cooling air for electronics. The EDC is uniquely designed to be installed in the severely limited space and hostile environment of an aircraft engine nacelle.
A typical EDC package developed by Concepts NREC typically consists of a single-stage centrifugal compressor, a gearbox, an air inlet duct with throttle vanes, and an electronic control system. The controller adjusts the compressor pressure ratio schedule to satisfy air flow and pressure demands under a wide range of ambient air pressures, air temperatures, and operating speeds.
