EASy! Control ™

Modeling Parameters Database Management Tool

EASy! Control is a database management tool closely coupled with Concepts NREC’s radial meanline tools, COMPAL®, PUMPAL®, and FANPAL™ to facilitate the selection of appropriate modeling parameters. It features a data query and a data reduction mode. In data query mode the design engineer can access a database of previous cases to guide the selection of modeling parameters for the current case of interest. In data reduction mode a set of test data can be automatically reduced to find the correct Two Zone and Two-Elements-in-Series (TEIS) modeling parameters for that data set.

Data Query Mode
Data query mode searches the database according to a set of user defined filter parameters to find cases closest to the current case at the design point. Estimates for the modeling parameters ηa, ηb, DRstall, 2p, and ε are then found from the modeling parameters of the closest neighbors in the database multiplied by predetermined weighting factors. This is a simple data interpolation method that is similar to a Neural Network or a Kriging interpolation method. A more advanced Neural Network and other techniques for the database query are currently under development.

Data Reduction Mode
Data reduction mode automatically performs the once arduous task of determining the appropriate modeling parameters for a set of test data. These results can then be added to the database for use in the data query mode. The standard parameters ηa, ηb, DRstall, 2p, and ε are determined automatically. In addition 2s (deviation in the secondary zone), LC57mult (volute loss coefficient multiplier), and Cf (vaneless) (skin friction coefficient in the vaneless diffuser) are also found for the data set. All speed lines can be reduced together with one set of modeling parameters or each speed line can be reduced separately with a set of modeling parameters for each speed. Currently it works only for stages with volutes and/or vaneless diffusers. Future versions will include capability for vaned diffuser sections.

Automatic Data Reduction Features

  • Greater accuracy provides a more precise match than typically achieved manually.
  • Non-uniform entry bias eliminated when all data processed is based on the same rules and the user controls the database entries.
