AXCAD™

Blade shaping, stacking, through-flow, and blade-to-blade analysis software for single and multistage axial turbines, compressors and pumps

Geometry
Even the most complex blade shaping/stacking tasks are handled with ease in AXCAD.

  • Specification of Cross Sections
    • Standard cross sections are included for both compressors (DCA, MCA, NACA 65) and turbines (Pritchard) arbitrary blade cross sections generated with Bezier curves.
  • Blade Stacking
    • Stacking is possible on the leading edge, CG, or the trailing-edge. The stacking line curve can be radial or can be curved in either the meridional direction (bowing) or tangential direction (tilt).
    • Spanwise Plotting of Blade Parameters
  • Restagger Entire Blade or Individual Blade Sections
  • Smooth 3D blade surfaces generated from NURBS fit of cross sections
  • 3D Throat Area Calculation and Passage Width vs. Span Plotting

Built-In Analysis Capabilities
AXCAD includes fully-integrated throughflow analysis, with built-in standard loss and deviation correlations, allowing multistage analysis of both compressors and turbines. Choked components are also handled. Solution setup and results display are completely automated.

Also built into AXCAD is a built-in transonic blade-to-blade quasi-3D Navier-Stokes CFD analysis. This blade-to-blade solver takes into account variable streamtube thickness as well as the 2D blade profiles. The solution setup and results display is completely automated in AXCAD. Pushbutton CFD&174; flow files can be imported for overlay with through-flow results.

User-Friendly Features
Geometry generation and flow analysis are accelerated through a powerful and flexible user interface. Context-sensitive help and menus help make AXCAD easy to learn and use. Three-dimensional rendering of blade shapes and multiple blade rows assists in conceptual design.

Input/Output with Other Programs
AXCAD supports industry-standard IGES files as well as output for machining, CFD, and FEA programs. AXCAD also accepts an initial geometry from the AXIAL™ meanline program. CADFIT option available to import cross sections from measurement data.
